Giant Fundraiser!

(The Date has changed to May 1 & 2)

We are holding a Giant (Huge, Really, really BIG) Garage & Bake Sale to benefit Eylau United Methodist Church, Friday and Saturday, May 1 & 2.  There will be something for everyone: children’s clothes & toys, adult clothes, kitchen, bathroom, living room stuff, furniture, small appliances, and knick-knacks galore — some used, some new.

So, now is the time.  Clean out those closets’ you have been putting off doing, also storage units too.  All donated items can be placed in the gym, on the left  side of the door.  We will have a sign up sheet for all those who would like to work setting up and/or during the sale.

If you have any items you’d like to donate, you need more information or you would like to donate an hour or two to this effort please contact:

Ann Black or Delma Kidd

Thank You for your service to our Lord!

A Potluck of People

Many congregations enjoy gathering for potluck dinners — meals largely unplanned, when people bring food to share. Usually, the main dishes, salads and desserts balance out. The fun is the variety mixing together on a plate and the surprise factor of what’s contributed.

Churches and communities — even families — are potlucks of a sort, too. When groups assemble, each person contributes something unique and sometimes unexpected. When all is mixed together, the whole is truly greater than the sum of the parts. A beautiful balance often results: One is a good singer, the other writes well; some are strong leaders, others dependable team members; some are traditional, others innovative. Together, it’s delicious!

Potlucks are sometimes called covered-dish dinners. But don’t keep your gifts “covered”! Share them because you’re a valued part of the whole.

Our next 3rd Sunday meal will be May 17.

And we will enjoy Sandwiches, Chips and Dips!

All-encompassing Savior

Christ be with me, Christ within me.
Christ behind me, Christ before me.
Christ beside me, Christ to win me.
Christ to comfort and restore me.
Christ beneath me, Christ above me.
Christ in quiet, Christ in danger.
Christ in hearts of all that love me.
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.

—Hymn attributed to St. Patrick

Thinking of Him

Did you know that Reverend Paula Behrens is not only a pastor, but also, an author?  That is true.  And she would like to recommend to anyone wishing to delve deeper into Christian thoughts about God (during the Lenten Season), her book, "Thinking of Him."

The pastor has added several more copies around the church that you may pick up to read, study and/or share.

Our hope is to offer a

sometime after Easter.

Please be in prayer about folks in your circle

who may enjoy attending with you.

Your talents are needed!

We are praying that God will raise up a few good folks who are able and committed to updating our sign out front - with things like, our Worship Hours, Ash Wednesday Service information, Easter Sunrise Service information, the Garage Sale information and an upcoming Community Bible Study.  Maybe that person is you?  Please let us know.  Thanks!

Indulge for Lent?

Rather than sacrificing something for Lent — especially something easy and spiritually insignificant, such as chocolate — Patty Kirk, in Guideposts magazine, suggests finding new ways to indulge in God’s presence. Surely one can do this by having extra devotions or attending Lenten worship services. But Kirk offers these ideas:

- Spend time outdoors, sensing God’s magnificence.

- Spend time with others, extending generosity and compassion. Remember Jesus’ promise that when you care for others, you care for him (Matthew 25:31-46).

- Pray for the “little things,” coming before God in childlike trust and feeling peace.

- Watch attentively for God’s answers to prayer, and receive them as reminders of his presence.

- Turn anxiety into prayer. As you frame concerns as prayers and entrust them to God, you “sacrifice” the tendency to wallow in worry.

Grace & Peace,

Pastor Paula
